-Angel July was hot hot hot for shows...literally! We survived the humidity and celebrated Aziz's First birthday with magic, dancing and face painting...all OUTDOORS! The family was wonderful, and we had a small break from the heat when a small rainstorm rolled through. Despite the weather challenges, the show went on and a good time was had by all!
We weren't quite so lucky with the weather on the Fourth of July when large dangerous storms rolled through, but we had shelter for our facepainters and everything cleared up in time for some amazing fireworks at Marchant Stadium. Maria was "arrested" for her 75th birthday, with a singing police officer telegram, and it was in front of quite a large crowd as it was at her job; Dillard's Department Store at the International Mall! When she finally recovered from the shock, she vowed revenge upon her daughter and coworkers through her laughter...Don't worry Maria, we'll help you with that! All in all it was a wonderful July! We still have a few open dates in August, so book now before they fill up! -Angel It's been hot hot HOT here this June! This past weekend Zaire celebrated her 3rd birthday in style with a full carnival for her birthday! Clowns, a Magician, Face Painting, Horseback rides, a dunk tank and a travel train made for one happy little girl! Despite the heat we were cool as cucumbers transforming her backyard into the Big Top! Her cousin, Baltimore Ravens Albert McClellan, even made an appearance! In other news, we are very happy to add the band Exit 44 to our line-up of performers...this is a band you do not want to miss! Creative and fun original tunes and harmonic covers make this Americana Folk band toe-tapping fun! Welcome Exit 44! If you haven't booked your bands or facepainters for the holiday weekend yet, slots are filling up fast, so book now before they're gone! Happy and Safe Fourth everyone! Angel After a fabulous March, April, and May, June is shaping up to be just as great! Singing telegrams are hot, hot HOT right now, and the addition of "Nerd-o-Grams" has been very popular! Happy Bookings!
-Angel May has turned out to be quite a busy month here, with telegrams, birthday parties, graduations and weddings blooming everywhere! With so many events in a row I began to notice a pattern among the clients; many of them had either had previous bad experiences hiring entertainment or had no experience at all and weren't sure how to proceed. With that in mind, I would like to offer some tips for hiring entertainment for your next event that are aimed at helping you and your entertainer have the best possible experience.
1. Know what your budget is and what you are willing/able to spend. There is a small amount of truth to the old adage "you get what you pay for,." but that doesn't mean you can't get quality on a small budget. The key is being honest with yourself and your performer when you are booking. Telling a professional entertainer or photographer that you can't afford to pay "but it will be great exposure/experience/opportunity" is the same as saying our time, expertise and skill has no value. If you have a small budget, that's ok, but there is a difference between having a small budget and being unwilling to pay a fair price for a skilled professional. you wouldn't go to a fancy steakhouse and walk out without paying, saying "well the chef had good experience learning how to make the meal..." It's the same with a professional entertainer. We aren't learning how to do what we do; we have spent hours upon hours perfecting skills that we make a living with. 2. Please have all of the important information for the event available at the time of booking. Entertainers very often have multiple events in one day, so knowing the actual time and location of your event is very important. If your event is outside, we need to know. If your event is formal attire or requires a security pass, we need to know. If you don't have an address available at at the time of booking, please make sure you have one when you fill out the contract for the event. 3. Please READ, fill out and return contracts ASAP Once you have agreed on a time, place and price, your entertainer should send you a contract confirming the details you discussed. It is very important you read and return this, because there may be important details about requirements such as power outlets or payment options that need to be addressed before the event. If you do not return the contract in a timely fashion, your performer may not be able to hold the date for your event. Please remember that without a signed contract and/or deposit, a performer is in limbo. 4. Please uphold your end of the contract. if your entertainer is scheduled to start at 1pm and perform until 2:30 but your event doesn't start until 2pm, please understand your entertainer may not be able to stay the same amount of time. If your contract states a performer requires a power outlet and there is not one available, you may not be able to get the best performance possible. If you agreed to something in the contract, please honor it. While i could say much more on the subject, i will leave it here for now. i hope these tips help you have the best entertainment experiences you can. Happy Bookings! Angel It has been a wonderful spring here at Mystic Entertainment! Singing telegrams are all the rage, and have kept us hopping lately! Have you ever booked a singing telegram for a special birthday or anniversary? Some people can be overwhelmed the first time they hire entertainment. It helps to have an idea of what you want before booking. Does the birthday boy or girl have a favorite song or artist? Is there a song that has special meaning for you? Or do you just want something fun, like Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday? Having an idea to help guide the entertainer will ensure you have the best experience possible. It also helps to know your venue. If you are having your party in a very fancy restaurant, you might want to make sure it is ok with management before you bring in an outside entertainer. Most venues do not mind, and will accommodate your needs, but if they know ahead of time they are much more likely to work with you to make the experience memorable in a good way. In most cases your entertainer is probably a surprise, and having the venue in on the secret will help ensure a smooth execution.
I hope these tips help, and here's to many musical returns! Happy Booking! Angel It's been a busy March here at Mystic Entertainment! We had an amazing gig for a private event at a retirement community for St. Patrick's Day, featuring authentic Irish music and a special appearance by mentalist Joe Diamond from Chicago. Joe also made a special appearance at Wizzards Magic Theater in Orlando, and we both made apperances at Lundyville's Open Mic Night on wednesday. What a busy week we had! don't miss out for your special events...book early and get special savings!
Happy Easter and Passover... Angel Well it certainly was a very busy few months! We went from fall festivities into Halloween Haunts, straight into the holiday season! After a few romantic Valentine moments, we are back at St. Patrick's once again....where does the time go? Before we know it, Easter will be here! We still have St. Pat's availability for morning or early afternoon events, so book now before we are booked up! Face Painting and traditional Irish musicians are still available for your event..
